Accommodation

Stay comfortably in the same house as the darkroom!
The apartment has its own kitchen, bathroom, and space for up to three guests.
You can cook your own meals or enjoy dinner down by the pier.

The Darkroom

The darkroom has everything you need for a calm and efficient workflow: a dedicated workspace, plenty of room, a precise enlarger, drying cabinets for film and paper, and an automatic processing machine for consistent and reliable developing and printing.

The Workspace

The workspace is bright, well-organized, and equipped for both analog and digital photo work.
You’ll find a light table, cutting tools, a large-format printer, and ample storage.
Perfect for focused work with scanning, printing, editing, and reviewing contact sheets and negatives.

Enlarger

The Durst Laborator L1200 is a solid and precise color enlarger for both black-and-white and color prints, designed for negatives up to 4×5″.
It offers accurate adjustments for focus, height, and framing – ideal for professional darkroom use.

Film Dryer

The Jobo Mistral 2 is a film dryer designed to efficiently dry film after processing. It is known for its reliability and ease of use.

Film Processor

The Jobo Autolab 1500 is a fully automatic film processor that efficiently develops both color and black-and-white film.
It is user-friendly and ideal for photographers seeking consistent results.

Developing Equipment

Developing equipment is used to process film and paper in the darkroom. It includes tanks, measuring cups, thermometers, and drying tools – everything needed to ensure precise and consistent development.

Do you offer training for beginners?
Yes! All skill levels are welcome, and you’ll receive thorough guidance regardless of your experience with darkroom work or film photography.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No, we have everything you need. But feel free to bring your own negatives or camera if you’d like.
Can I stay without using the darkroom?
Yes, you’re welcome to book accommodation only and enjoy the surrounding nature – use of the darkroom is optional.
When can you see the midnight sun and the northern lights?
The midnight sun is visible from May 27 to July 17, while the northern lights can be seen from September to April, depending on weather and solar activity.
Where are you located in Lofoten?
We’re based on a peaceful island called Skrova – surrounded by mountains, fjords, and coastline. It’s the perfect setting for photography and tranquility.
How do I get to Skrova?
From Bodø, it takes 2.5 hours by express boat to Skrova.
From Evenes Airport, it’s a 2-hour bus ride to Svolvær.
From Svolvær, a ferry departs for Skrova twice a day.
Is food included during the stay?
No, you have to cook your own meals in the kitchen in the apartment. There is and a 24/7 grocery store just 50 meters away. There’s also a restaurant, Heimbrygga, right next door.
How many people can work in the darkroom at the same time?
The darkroom can accommodate 3 people working at the same time.
